Info-Display-1The Course

Bigbury has been providing a challenge for golfers of all abilities for 85 years. Today, its 18 holes total 6,061 yards for men, 5,568 for ladies. Par is 70 and 72 strokes respectively.

The fairways are wide and the greens fast, but club selection is complicated by sea winds and by awkwardly placed trees and bunkers.

Practice

You can practice your putting on a dedicated green, your short game in the chipping zone and your long game on the full length practice ground.

The Pro Shop

Bigbury’s Director of Golf, Nigel Blenkarne, and his business partner, Tracy Loveys, have taken the shop and associated activities to a new level. Nigel is a PGA Master Professional, Tracy a WPGA member. Both are widely known and respected as coaches who adopt a friendly, individual approach, whether advising on clothing, clubs or a troublesome swing. The shop incorporates a high-tech workshop which means clubs are not merely sold but fitted to size, stance and grip.

The Clubhouse

The picture windows of Bigbury’s clubhouse make the most of its sea views. Its large lounge, well-stocked bar and airy dining-room provide a comfortable haven after a testing round and a wide range of snacks and meals made with fresh, local ingredients. A full length patio offers the opportunity to sit outside in warm weather. There are comprehensive locker-room facilities for both sexes and surfaced car-parking for up to 100 cars.

Coaching

A particular strength of the club. Nigel and Tracy will hone your swing and bring length and accuracy to your game whatever your age and handicap. Youngsters in particular will benefit from Nigel’s expertise as co-founder of Young Masters.

Dress
Like other golf clubs, we are happy with smart casual wear but we don’t like ragged jeans, track suits, shell suits, combat wear, tee-shirts, flip-flops and beach wear.

We specify golf shoes on the course - though not, please, in the lounge or dining-room - and ask that jacket and tie (or female equivalent) are worn for official prize-givings.
